MORE SUCCESS FOR BALLYMENA BUSINESSES

Ballymena caterers continue to be triumphant in the food hygiene stakes as a further nine businesses in the Borough have been presented with the illustrious Food Standards Agency Northern Ireland (FSANI) Eat Safe Award, by Ballymena Borough Council Environmental Health Department.

The winners of the award are:

• Cullybackey High School , Cullybackey

• Camphill Primary School , Ballymena

• Ballee Controlled Primary School, Ballymena  

• County Hall Canteen, Ballymena

• Gal-Gourmet Sandwich Bar, Galgorm

• Pinewood Residential Home, Ballymena

• George Sloan Adult Centre, Ballymena

• Wilson House, Broughshane

• Dale Farm Ltd, Ballymena

Trevor Williamson, Eat Safe Project Manager, FSANI said, “I am delighted to see this award continue to go from strength to strength.  Currently 362 caterers across Northern Ireland, including the award winners today, have gone above and beyond the criteria required under food hygiene legislation and have received the Eat Safe Award to recognise their achievements.”

Commenting on the presentation, Elaine Logan, Senior Food Officer from Ballymena Borough Council: “It is fantastic news for consumers in


Ballymena that another nine businesses from the Borough have received the Eat Safe award.  This award presentation brings the total number of award holder in the Ballymena Borough Council area to 23.  The criteria under which this award is given is very strict and it is a credit to each of the winners today that they have been successful in achieving the award.”

The Eat Safe award is open to all catering establishments and the main aim of the scheme is to provide an incentive to caterers to strive for food hygiene and food safety management standards beyond those required by law. It will also help consumers make informed choices about where to eat out by providing a recognisable 'sign' of excellence in standards of food hygiene.  Consumers can check out the Eat Safe website www.eatsafe.gov.uk to see where their nearest Eat Safe accredited food business is.
